The following are the eligibility criteria you need to fulfill to attain the CPEng Australia credential:

You need to have a minimum of 15 years of post-graduate experience.

You must have taken up significant responsibility across your career including learning projects and teams.

You are required to have an Engineers Australia membership at the Member level or higher.

 

How to apply:

1.   Pre-approval:

You must prepare an expanded resume in which you detail the major projects you have been responsible for and your major attainments. It must include the positions you have held, situations, problems and opportunities that came to you and the expert skills or knowledge you applied to attain a positive result. Its aim is to ensure that the assessors can clearly see how you have fulfilled the 16 competencies that are related to your occupational category.

You need to include the names, positions, companies and contact details of two referees in your resume. One of your referees needs to be capable of verifying your resume and qualifications. After that, email your resume and referees to Engineers Australia asking for applying for Chartered for 15 +years’ experience.  

2.   Self-assessment:

After that, Engineers Australia will email you a self-assessment form that you have to complete. Complete it, and send it back to the assessment authority.

If your pre-approval is confirmed, another mail will reach you from Engineers Australia with a link, allowing you to apply via the EA portal.

3.   Prepare and upload documentation:

You need to use the link that you got in the mail and stick to the prompts in the portal to upload the following items:

·        The resume you mailed Engineers Australia including the details of your two referees.

·        Proof of your continuing professional development (CPD). You need to have completed at least 150 hours of CPD over the previous three years.

·        A colour-scanned copy of your photo identification you need to submit along with your driving licence.

 

4.   Professional interview:

Your last for becoming a Chartered Engineer Australia is a professional interview with an Engineers Australia assessor.

The authority will reach you to fix a time for your professional interview with one of its assessors, and you will get an invitation to the online Teams or Skype interview. Usually, it takes a few weeks for an interview to be fixed.

This interview will last nearly one hour and will include a wide discussion regarding your engineering career. The evaluator will be looking for proof that you have satisfied the 16 competencies that are related to your occupational category. In addition, they will use the interview to ensure that you have deep knowledge and experience in your area(s) of practice.

It’s recommended but not compulsory to prepare a short presentation in which you should introduce yourself and emphasize the key projects and activities illustrating your achievements. We advise you to have six to eight slides.
