Fellow or Fellowship is the most
prestigious grade of IOM3. It gives recognition to those who have contributed
significantly or set up a record of attainment in the materials, minerals,
mining fields, or other disciplines within the technical outreach of IOM3.
Both who are existing members and those without
a membership can apply for this grade. The grade can be applied for as a
standalone grade or with professional registration from the Engineering Council
(as an IEng, EngTech, or CEng); the Science Council (as an RSS, CSci, or
RSciTech); or the Society for the Environment (as a CEng). However, for this,
you need to have the grade of Professional Member (MIMMM) first.

Requirements
for Fellow Grade IOM3 Membership:
Those who attain FIMMM grade first attain
and are recognized through one or more of the following routes:
·
Route
1: have contributed to moving forward the
boundaries of the art, practice, and understanding of an IOM3 technical domain.
·
Route
2: have handled at a senior/responsible level
processes and practitioners in an IOM3 technical field in such a way that
significant scientific, technical, or economic results have consistently been
attained.
·
Route
3: have driven the supply or enrichment of a significant
number of suitable eligible and passionate practitioners in an IOM3 technical
domain, using the pioneering utilization of cutting-edge teaching pedagogies or
directing nationally recognized outreach activities.
·
Route
4: have provided some solutions to an IOM3
technical domain or professional activity, which can include a contribution of
a non-technical nature like involvement with local societies or activities that
are related to membership, where they have gone beyond their formal remit throughout
the significant period.
The evaluation for the award of FIMMM is a peer-review
process from start to end. It is not based on competency it is focused on the
contribution that the individual made, and as such, it is up to the applicant
and their referees to make the case for the award of this valuable grade.
A Statement of Contribution must articulate
what makes the individual different and underpins the application. It should be
concise but detailed and pay attention to the impact and attainments of the
individual instead of their job roles. It must be with a detailed resume and
can be supported with information like examples of recent conference papers and
publications; patents; awards and citations and proof of raising the awareness
of the engineering and science materials, minerals, mining, natural resources,
or some other IOM3 te, technical area to a wider community; mentoring activity
details; and contributions to local society activities or some service to the
membership.
Those who want to apply for registration at
the same time with IOM3 Membership
as a Fellow need to hire a professional IOM3 expert to do everything in the
right manner.
