APEGS Continuous Professional Development Program
When a member gets registered by APEGS (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists in Saskatchewan), then it is the duty of the professional to stay informed and the main competency within their respective professions.
The authority has formalized this
requirement using its Continuing Professional Development Program, which is
also called the CPD Program. The program is helpful for a member in formally
proving to the public their knowledge, credibility, and competency in
fulfilling the skills requirements of today, while also being ready for the
environments of tomorrow.
Important
note: On the 5th of May, 2018, APEGS member
present at the Annual Meeting cast their vote unanimously for the
implementation of the required Continuing Professional Development Program,
which also includes compulsory reporting. This new Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) Program came into operation on the 1st of January,
2019.

and create a CPD Plan
2. Track
their CPD
3. Attain
their minimum number of credits
4. Earn
credits in the minimum number of categories

For the determination of the number of

APEGS
CPD Program benefits:
The public expects greater accountability
from a professional. It has expectations from a professional to involve in
lifelong learning for the protection of public health, safety, and welfare. A
well-rounded CPD Program is necessary for the public; it has a couple of other
benefits for the member too. Let’s know these benefits:
1. It
will provide the member with a golden opportunity to annually see their goals
2. It
will also help justify requests for extra training
3. Its
biggest benefit will be in tracking CPD activities that will help in CV
updating
4. The
record can also be used to set up credibility with peers and employers
5. Updating
skills will show adaptability and flexibility
6. It
will assist in mobility between provincial jurisdictions
7. Completing
the needs helpful for networking opportunities
Besides knowing all this, you should also
know about the APEGS self-assessment,
which is a system for professional registration or licensure applicants to
record their progress in fulfilling the competency requirements for geoscience
or engineering experience and get it evaluated or validated.
