C. Tech ASET Assessment Process
If you dream of attaining a Certified Technician (C.Tech) membership in Alberta, then you need to win a positive ASET assessment. For that, you need to prove your competency.
Taking this fact into account, we have
written this article so that we can familiarize you with the assessment
process, eligibility criteria, and the required application fees. The better
you know all these things, the easier it will be for you to win a positive
assessment.
Attaining membership will bring you
increased credibility, network, and professional recognition.
A C.Tech is an applied science, information,
or engineering technology professional performing routine technical procedures
with occasional direct supervision. Besides that, they may assume limited
responsibility for any decision-making process. Having known what is expected
of a C.Tech, now let’s move ahead to know the eligibility criteria for
membership.
To fulfill the C.Tech ASET assessment
eligibility criteria, you need to:
·
Be a graduate of a
technical certificate or diploma program
·
Have a minimum of two
years of technical work experience
·
Work or looking for work
in Alberta on the Northwest Territories
Keep
in mind: if having a TAC-accredited education, you
don’t need to complete an academic assessment for C.Tech. You may contact registration@aset.ab.ca
before you apply to confirm program eligibility.
In case of working or looking for work out
of Alberta or the Northwest Territories, you should contact their provincial
technology association to know about membership options.
If you are not a program graduate, hire an
ASET expert to know more about application information.

ASET
assessment process:
The assessment process is divided into six
steps. Each one of them also has some steps. So, read everything carefully. The
following are the six steps of the ASET assessment process:
1.
Application:
·
You have to apply online
and pay the required fees.
·
Students and T.T. members
have to use their existing ASET ID to apply for certification.
·
Emails transcripts or an academic
assessment to the ASET office.
2.
Education:
Transcripts need to be final and note that the
credential was awarded and be original (or true copies certified by a notary a
professional member of APEGA, or ASET, or ASET staff).
An applicant having international education
has to submit a basic academic evaluation that is conducted by a member of the
Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services)
3.
Evidence:
You need to upload the required work experience
and competency documentation.
Give contact information for professional
references.
4.
Exams:
You need to complete the PPE (Professional
Practice Exam)
You don’t need to complete the
Certification Exam unless you want to be considered for C.E.T.
5.
Assessment:
Staff will review documentation and ask for
extra information if necessary.
Subject matter expert reviewers assess
documentation and ask for additional information if necessary (2 to 3 months
after submission).
Board of Examiners reviews completed
application and decides about certification (BoE meeting happens quarterly).
6.
Post-assessment:
A decision letter is sent to a new member
3-4 weeks after the board decision.
You, as a C.Tech member, have to pay annual
dues and get access to member benefits.
You may order a framed certificate or/and
member ring.
You will be subject to completing annual
Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Why
you should hire an ASET assessment:
Although we told you about the assessment
process and the eligibility criteria, you can’t write the ASET competency
report to prove your competency. It is because you need to be familiar with the
ASET technical report guidelines
and assessment criteria. Besides that, you need to have excellent writing
skills and the ability to write in limited words. Therefore, taking ASET
competency report writing services is a must.
