How To Apply For PEO Temporary Licence
The PEO temporary licence is given on a project and discipline basis for at most 12 months from approval. However, only one Certificate of Authorization is required.
Application/Submission
requirements:
A Canadian resident (outside of Ontario):
·
Filling up complete
applications and payment of fees for a temporary licence.
·
Written verification of
membership or registration with another provincial regular/Ordre must be
received by the association directly from the respective Ordre/regulator.
·
Citizenship proof.
A non-Canadian resident:
Completing applications and paying fees for
a temporary licence.
Qualifications equivalent to those
necessary for a licence as a member, or wide recognition in the field of
engineering in respect of the work for which a temporary licence is asked for
and not less than 10 years of work experience in said field.
Original academic transcripts listings all
courses and marks for the achievement of the university engineering bachelor’s
degree must be received by the regulator directly from the respective
university.
Written registration verification with a
professional engineering board of registration or other organization with
functions similar to those of the regulator must be received by the regulator
straight from the respective board of registration (if applicable).
Collaboration with a licensed member of the
regulator is a must to ensure that the engineering work is in harmony with
Canadian and Ontario standards, codes, and laws governing the work. All final
reports, drawings, and the like must be co-signed and sealed by the
collaborator. In addition, collaborators need to write directly to the
Registrar, using the offered sample letter, confirming their wish to serve as
collaborators.
When submitting your application, include
the following:

licence application.

A copy of your present
resume.

Payment of application
fee: •$780 + HST = $881.40 (you are requested not to provide a cheque or money
order at this time, Professional Engineers Ontario
will inform you when a payment is needed and give information about how to pay
online).
How
to complete PEO temporary licence application?

1.
Personal:
Provide your full legal name. If for any
reason, the name which appears on any documentation, academic or other,
received by the association in support of your application for a Temporary
licence, differs from the given information on the application, it will be
necessary to provide official legal documentation accordingly.
2.
Residence:
The complete permanent address, together
with postal or zip code, must be given. You should indicate your preference
concerning the mailing address to be used by the association when corresponding
with you (office or home).
3.
Academic:
For an applicant who is not registered as a
professional engineer in another Province or Territory of Canada, an official
academic transcript must be sent to the association (Attention to The
Registrar, Temporary Licence Division) and must come directly from the
respective institution/university. Student copies are unacceptable.
4.
Employment:
You must provide the full legal name and
address of your present employer clearly. Don’t abbreviate the employer’s legal
name. If you provide an inaccurate company name, then it will delay the
processing of your application.
5.
Professional:
Include only those organizations in which
registration or membership is held, which have functions similar to those of
the association (another regulatory body). An applicant who is a resident of
Canada is requested to have their Associations/Ordre; confirm in writing to
this office their current membership.

Project
identification: It is a must that question 1 (a)
through (f) be completed in full. Not providing detailed information will delay
the process of your application. Pay attention to legal and proper names. Give
as completely as possible:

The details of the project
(like owner, dimensions, type of facility, and occupancy, intended use, new or
medication, and the like).
·
Sufficient details
concerning the specific engineering services to be given by the applicant.
·
Reference to specific
codes where applicable. Descriptions of engineering services should make
reference to the design, analysis, assessment, or other engineering services to
be provided. If required, a cover letter may be included with the application.
2.
Experience:
Submit a detailed, typed experience summary
with special attention to your engineering activities together with the
application.
3.
Signature:
When signed and submitted to the offices of
the association, the application for a PEO temporary
licence is an official document.
