What Are The IOM3 MIMMM Grade Requirements

The Member grade (MIMMM) comes with a recognition of a person’s professional knowledge, experience and understanding in a technical discipline related to IOM3 (Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining).



An IOM3 member is expected to exercise independent judgement in both practical experience and the application of engineering or environmental or scientific principles. They need to be innovative in technical matters that are related to materials and natural resources in one or more of the below-given things:

·        Exploration

·        Processing

·        Extraction

·        Forming

·        Application

·        Selection

·        Development

·        Manufacturing

·        Research

·        Repurposing

·        Reuse

·        Recycling

Requirements:

You need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for this status:

·        You need to have the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, be it a BSc, BEng, BSc (Eng), BTech and the like or equal RQF Level6/SCQF Level 9/10 qualification in a related science, engineering, technology or environmental subject.

·        Having a minimum of 4 years of related working experience is required. It can include the time you spent completing a Ph.D. or Eng.

Those who are with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent but have signification related work experience can be eligible for the Member grade on the basis of their work-based learning. Hire an IOM3 competency report writing expert to know more about this route.

Otherwise, individuals who don’t yet fulfill these criteria may choose to apply for the Associate grade (AIMMM).

·        Eligibility to apply for Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCs) Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card for which you will have to pass the related CITB Health and Safety and Environmental Test or an approved alternative.

·        Being able to apply to have recognition with Minerals Reporting accreditation under the terms of the CRIRSCO templated Codes of Reporting and get added to IOM3’s register, from which practitioner credential due diligence checks can be made by the public.

 

If you also hold professional engineering registration, then you can have, if you are a ground engineer, consideration for entry to the Register of Ground Engineering Professionals (ROGEP).

Application for professional registration:

If you want to apply for professional registration as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Chartered Scientist (CSci), or Chartered Engineer (CEng), then holding the IOM3 Member grade or Fellow Grade at the time of application is a must for you.

How to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng)?

To become a Chartered Engineer, you need to hold either the Fellow grade or Member grade when you apply for professional registration. Besides that, we find it necessary to advise you to hire a professional who can help at every stage of the CEng MIMMM pathway that leads to a chartership.
