NPPE Exam Testing Accommodations

The National Professional Practice Examination (NPPE exam) confirms knowledge of several content areas as given by the exam blueprint. 13 engineering and geoscience self-regulatory organizations all over Canada use this exam system as one of their requirements for licensure.

To be eligible for this exam, you need to have submitted an application for professional membership (those who have not submitted an application to their provincial association for membership can’t register for this exam).

It is a computer-based exam and is administered through Meazure Learning, a merger of Yardstick, a Canadian computer-based testing vendor, and ProctorU, which is an online proctoring service. There are 5 exam administration sessions offered per year. The exam format is 110 multiple questions, each with four options and only one correct answer per question. All questions are scored 0 (incorrect) or 1 (correct) without penalty for guessing. The time to do this exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. In some jurisdictions, like EGBC, the exam contains an essay. So, the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes in duration.

Testing Accommodations:

Specific testing needs can be provided to those who are taking the NPPE Exam. These testing accommodations are:

·        Lessened-distraction testing rooms (for test centres only)

·        More testing time

·        Larger font (for all examinees in the stock exam interface)

·        Extra breaks

For a request for testing accommodations, reach your provincial regulator when you register for the exam.

Supporting documents from a health care or education specialist (written within the last 3 years) are needed outlining:

Details of the disability

Details of the requirement of testing accommodations for a computer-based exam based on the disability

Specifically, why accommodations are necessary because of the disability (for example, an hour of additional time is required due to visual impairment).

You have to submit the testing accommodation request and supporting information before the registration deadline. If the authority gets it after the registration deadline, your exam will be fixed again in the next session.

Refunds, cancellations, and rescheduling:

Before the exam registration deadline, the exam may be cancelled and refunded or deferred to a new session. When the exam deadline has passed, the exam fee can’t be refunded. Deferrals can be asked for until the exam booking deadline, which is in the Measure Learning booking email, in the event of a medical emergency or illness, court appearance, death in the family or military duty. A deferral can be asked for by means of your provincial association. For example, you need to contact PEO to get a deferral form for NPPE Ontario. Providing appropriate supporting documents like a doctor’s note is a must.

Why you should hire a professional:

Hiring a PEO competency report expert will let you know the whole process of the NPPE exam. Besides that, they will also tell you about the topics you need to gain deep knowledge of. This way, the chance of a successful assessment will be more. In addition, you will do everything systematically, which will also put a good impression of you in the minds of assessors.
