How
to register for the professional registration:
The following are the five steps you need
to go through to attain professional registration:
1.
Join
a professional engineering institution:
Join a professional engineering institution
licensed to evaluate those candidates who aim for professional engineering
registration. Or, choose to join a Professional Affiliate of the Engineering
Council. Some of these organizations are with agreements to register their
members by means of a licensed institution. One of the major benefits of
joining is the valuable help that the institutions will give you to help you
reach registration.
2.
Let
your institution become familiar with your aim:
It is a must-do for you to tell your
institution that you want to apply for professional registration with the
Engineering Council. Their staff will check your qualifications, training, and
experience. After that, they will advise you which title you may be qualified
for and whether any additional learning or experience is necessary to fulfill
the UK-SPEC competencies.
With their help, you may also be able to find a mentor.
3.
Record
your professional development:
To attain and maintain professional
registration with the Engineering Council, record your professional
development. It offers proof of your activities, qualifications, and experience
for you to draw on when you are ready to apply for your picked title.
4.
Assessment
(the professional review):
The evaluation process for registration is also
called the professional review. It starts with a written application that may
vary as per the requirements of your institution. Your institution will offer
you everything necessary you should know.
When your institution has verified that you
meet the required criteria, it will submit a registration form. This
registration form will be for the Engineering Council on your behalf.
5.
Certification:
When the Engineering Council gets your
registration form, the council will verify and process your application. Afterward,
you will be added to the national register.
It usually takes between one to three
weeks. After that, you will get your registration pack. This registration pack
will include a certificate showing your new title. Attaining this title will allow
you to use your post-nominal letters so that you can emphasize your
professional title.
