APEGS CBA Online System For Work Experience Reporting

Before becoming eligible to apply for an APEGS professional licence, it’s a must for you to have four years of engineering or geoscience work experience assessed by the Experience Review Committee.

Eligibility criteria:

You need to have registration as a geoscience-in-training or engineering-in-training, or a member-in-training applicant who has been given the work experience reporting option to try and have confirmatory exams waived to be eligible.

CBA:

APEGS, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan, uses an online competency-based assessment (CBA) system to evaluate the work experience of candidates. Besides providing validated examples to demonstrate each of the competencies, the applicant needs to have a minimum of four years of work experience validated in this system.

How to report in the online system:

Reach https://comeptencyassessment.ca.

Choose the section of ‘Applicants’.

Adhere to the instructions strictly that appear on the screen.

Make an account with APEGS Registration/Application as your User ID.

Pick ‘Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan’ as your jurisdiction.

The authority will send you an email notification on the acceptance of your approval, which may take up to five business days. APEGS approves these accounts manually M-F 8:00 to 5:00.

Reach the system by choosing the option of ‘I am a registered user and would like to access the Competency Assessment System’.

Start putting in your information adhering to the instructions on the screen. At this time, your educational information doesn’t appear in the CBA system.

If you have any problems with the system, contact the authority.

On the proper assessment of your experience, you will get the result by mail. If you don’t pass the first time, you will get a chance to redo any competencies, not fulfilling the requirements.

You should get your evaluation result within a period of 6 to 8 weeks after the completion of all validations. If the authority finds your validators unacceptable, APEGS will notify you, and the validation process will have to be redone.

Paper-Based Reporting:

Important: From Jan. 1, 2024, the authority will not accept paper-based work experience reports. All interim and final paper reports need to be received by APEGS by the date of 31, December 2023.

If having started reporting your experience in the old paper-based system, you can complete your reporting in that system or, ideally, switch to the new competency-based assessment system. In case of having not already started your experience reporting, it’s a must for you to use the online CBA system.

You should get your assessment result within a period of 6 to 8 weeks after you submit your experience report. If there are any omissions or errors in the report, you will be informed by APEGS, and you need to submit the report again.

Having provided you with the necessary information regarding APEGS work experience reporting, we advise you to hire a professional so that you can show your work experience effectively.
