How to Apply For CPEng Australia With more than 15-year experience
In a more convenient and easier way, the CPEng Australia title is available for those candidates who have more than 15 years of experience in a more convenient way. These candidates must have demonstrated the necessary 16 competencies necessary for chartership during many times in their careers.
Engineers Australia allows such candidates
to apply for Chartered via an interview. It is a premium pathway to attain the
title of CPEng Australia,
cutting out the industry review and formal assessment steps. It also recognizes
candidates’ years of experience with a minimal time commitment.
Eligibility:
For the Chartered status, you will be
required to fulfill the following requirements:
·
You must have a post-graduate
experience of at least 15 years.
·
You need to have held
major responsibility across your engineering career like leading teams and
projects.
·
You need to be an
Engineers Australia member at Member level or above.
How to apply:
The following are the four steps that you
need to go through for chartership:
1.
Pre-approval:
You must make an expanded resume in which
you need to detail the major projects you took responsibility for and your
major attainments. It must include the positions you worked in, situations,
issues and opportunities you had and the expert knowledge or skills you applied
to attain a successful result.
The purpose of this is to make sure that
the assessors can clearly see the way you have satisfied the 16 competencies
related to your occupational category.
You need to include the names, positions,
companies and contact details in your CV of two referees. One of these two
referees must be capable of verifying your resume and qualifications. After
that, mail your CV and referees to the assessment authority, in which you
request to apply for Chartered for 15+ years’ experience.
2.
Self-assessment:
After that, the assessment authority, Engineers
Australia, will email you a self-assessment form that you must complete.
Complete this form and mail it to the authority.
On the confirmation of your pre-approval,
you will get another mail from the assessment authority. This mail will be with
a link, which will allow you to apply via the EA portal.
3.
Prepare
and upload documents:
Use the link you got in the mail. After
that, stick to the prompts in the portal to upload the below-provided items:
·
The resume you mailed to
Engineers Australia must include the details of your two referees.
·
Proof of your continuing
professional development, which is also called CPD. You need to have completed
at least 150 hours of CPD over the previous 3-year period.
·
A colour-scanned copy of
your photo identification along with a passport or driving licence.
4.
Professional
interview:
Your last step to becoming a Chartered Engineer Australia
is a professional interview with an EA assessor.
The assessment authority will reach you to
fix a professional interview time with you, which will be conducted by one of
its assessors. You will receive an invitation to the online Teams or Skype
interview. It usually takes a few weeks for the authority to fix an interview.
The interview will run nearly one hour and
will include a wide discussion regarding your career as an engineering
professional. The assessor will be looking for proof that you have satisfied
the 16 competencies related to your occupational category. They will also use
this interview to check the deepness of your engineering knowledge and
experience in your area/s of practice.
We advise you to prepare a short
presentation, in which you should introduce yourself and emphasize the key projects
or activities illustrating your attainments. It’s fine to have six to eight
slides.
